A replacement membrane is not automatically compatible because its dimensions or advertised output look similar. Indonesian plant buyers and distributors should compare the original model, system records and proposed replacement documentation together. A long delivery lead time is a reason to plan spares, not to skip compatibility checks.
Identify the existing installation
Photograph the pressure vessel, end caps, original element label and system nameplate. Keep the full model and batch information. Record the number of elements per vessel, connectors, seals, feed direction and system arrangement. If a label cannot be read, mark the model as unconfirmed and ask the responsible designer or service provider to investigate.
Provide the last reliable operating record: temperature, feed and product conductivity, flows, pressures and maintenance history. Reduced production can have several causes, including changed temperature, pretreatment problems, instrumentation or fouling. It does not automatically establish that an element should be discarded. Use the manufacturer's appropriate comparison method rather than comparing readings taken under different conditions.
Match the interfaces and performance conditions
| Item | Buyer supplies | Supplier confirms |
|---|---|---|
| Geometry and interfaces | Vessel identification and connection photos | Dimensions, connectors, seals and loading compatibility |
| Performance | Actual feed analysis and required output | Datasheet conditions and project design result |
| Operation and storage | Existing cleaning and shutdown procedure | Permitted limits and preservation instructions |
| Traceability | Required identity and original model | Manufacturer, full model, batch and documents |
Read datasheet flow and rejection together with the test solution, concentration, temperature, pressure and recovery conditions. Similar headline values obtained under different tests do not establish equivalent performance. Ask whether the offer is a direct replacement or a redesigned alternative. A redesigned alternative should identify setting changes and responsibility for them.
Connect receipt inspection with storage
Check labels, quantities, package integrity and transport damage when the outer packaging is opened. Keep photographs and handover times. Wet or dry preservation, permitted storage conditions and storage duration must follow the current instructions for that exact model. Do not borrow another brand's procedure for draining, adding chemicals or repacking.
Assign a custodian for uninstalled elements. Hold damaged, leaking or mismatched packages for clarification before attempting a repair that could complicate a claim. After commissioning, record the start date, operating baseline and measured water quality.
List seals, connectors, removal and installation, transport protection and commissioning as separate quotation items. The membrane category can support an initial remote enquiry. A category page does not establish stock availability, manufacturer authorisation or on-site service in Indonesia.
